| The Great Rift Ten Aside tournament culminated early last evening having brought the elite sportsmen and dyed-in-the-wool fans to the floor of the rift valley to witness the most unique tournament in the KRFU calendar. The tournament, this year showed a great hand of organization by Nakuru?s Mwangi Muchemi with the Impala, Nondies and Quins taking their top players despite the fact that no points are gained or lost whatever the outcome. It was exciting to watch Impala?s Bill Odongo (c), Oscar Osir, Dan Oimbo, Ian Simiyu, Victor Sudi, Frank Ndong?, Moses Kola, Steve Obondi, Allan Wamanga, Mitch Ocholla, Ted Omondi, Richard Nyakwaka beautifully match and thus warrant the Cup.

| Impala cleared the first huddle when the John Mwangi Kabeberi sevens tournament started off the KRFU sevens circuit series at the RFUEA grounds. They were first to score showing off immense talent on the pitch and the most reassuring reserve bench at Ngong road this weekend. Nondies another star studded team lost to Impala in the semis 33:0, Quins without Ernest Waweru who flew out while protesting allegedly his been fielded ??for 10 minutes? in the league match against Nondies the previous weekend had been eliminated 24:0 by Ulinzi now bringing the fittest team Ulinzi verses the fastest, typical Gazelles. However, this time, fitness and pace took the backbench with the tournament showing great improvement in skill, just as Impala coach Tony Muriu said, ?Everybody now is big and fast?. They had to do much more than just ran.

| The pounding rain did not stop Impala from picking extra points from the floor of the rift-valley this afternoon as the gazelles went on to trample flamingos 43:10.The rains did not stop both teams from running the ball in what was expected to be a maul and cautious short passes. The match instead was characterized by long running passes more racks less mauls. It was amazing that the whole match had only 9 knock-ons with such rain. It was Nakuru with a lighter pack that did most of the running with beautiful calculated back moves.
