| The National Sevens team went on a giant killing spree, humiliating and humbling great rugby playing nations. Our boys were catching headlines ubiquitously, gaining props and getting appreciated more offshore, like Jesus, than at home. They were a 1000-ton rugby playing squad that was unstoppable. We took the Sri Lanka trophy from Portugal and were moving from just another successful team to a rugby playing phenomenon. But me no buts, at least not yet, for we surprised everyone this sevens season not for anything else, but for not raising eyebrows. Good newspaper reviews is not getting appreciated according to me, anyway the newspapers get money for good stories, and the team is a run of the mill.

| Talk about eight Kenya Cup Matches this Saturday, five ESS matches the same day, Sunday is here and we don?t take easy, the U-21 league is on, all Kenya Cup teams are represented. In fact some players who took the pitch on Saturday are taking the hits again on Sunday. The coach is already looking for the best combination for next weekend?s sevens tournament, he?s thinking about getting more weights in the gym, and the team departs for Mombasa on Thursday. That is going through the coach?s mind, in two days and it?s just the tip of the iceberg.

| Kenya Exiles has just discovered that KRFU is just like fruit, the longer it ripens the more it rots. Finally, Kenya gets to play in Seven IRB 7s tournaments and everybody celebrates. Just when we are about to uncork the bottles, the clumsy chambermaid breaks the crystals, again.

| Welcome to the eighth edition of the newsletter.
Many years ago?before the Super 12 there was a Super 10 competition
involving 4 teams from NZ, 3 from SA, 2 from Oz and one Pacific
nation. This tournament was played in two pools of 5. The most interesting
feature of that tournament was how poorly NZ teams performed, winning
just 18 of the 41 games they played over three years, or a 43% strike
rate. Just for the record... the previous winners of this competition
are...1996 - Queensland, 1997 - Auckland, 1998 - Auckland, 1999-
Queensland, 2000 - ACT, 2001 - ACT, 2002 - Canterbury.
