It was a confirmation of the changing face of the rugby Kenya Cup league with Quins beating Nakuru and Impala?s win over Ulinzi as the only stock results with Kenya Cup crossing the threshold. The interesting topic is that all teams are on the order of 50% new players playing in the Kenya Cup this season. Nondies have a new line up that captain Allan Hicks (standing in for Charles Cardovillis) called pristine. They however lost to an also mint conditioned Mwamba this afternoon at Machine grounds following referee Raymond Oruo discrediting Railway Club grounds which was supposed to be the main venue, having been littered after a party.

The Quins were back from Zimbabwe to unveil what coach Odundo called ??Team of the future? this afternoon. And fielding a very young team they went on to beat floodlit winners Mean Machine 30:20 in their first Kenya Cup match today. The tour sure had some great lessons and probably conferred a very discipline pack, which was emphatically instrumental to today?s win.

The Impala Club still doesn?t have a card inscribed ?KCB? to put scores on the scoreboard for KCB and had to do with some classroom chalk. Neither had the Floodlit Main Cup been inscribed ?KCB? at least tonight, although the Varsity boys had some teaching to do, and without chalk. Today the best team won. Sad for the bankers who had put so much weight in winning tonight?s Cup. Evans Maiyo?s team tonight lifted the trophy tall and proud for the seventh time.

Impala tonight unveiled the most colossal pair of centers since the days of Branco Ng'inja. Fielding Curtis Olago at first center and Kenya 15s Kiragwi Mwirigi at second center certainly made them look intimidating. But not as much according to Evans Maiyo captained Mean Machine who overturned the rule book tonight to beat Impala with a sudden death drop kick, sending Impala out of contention.
